Very nice desktop/tabletop personal fan
It's been pretty hot in Chicago these past two weeks and our central air conditioning unit is giving up the ghost. Too bad the installation of the new central air has been cancelled twice so far. So, it's been pretty warm inside. Not entirely without air conditioning, but the old unit just isn't up to the job any more.
So I picked up this little Lasko fan - and am I glad I did!
I used to have a floor model near my work table and it was always blowing papers off the table or making them flap endlessly - and even at its lowest speed, it was like sitting in a hurricane.
Not with the Lasko. Its grandiose name "PLATINUM Desktop Wind Tower" should be replaced with something like "Personal Cooler" - because that is what it does.
The unit is about six inches in diameter and just shy of 14 inches high. The plastic exterior is in the ubiquitous "platinum" so familiar to computer users. Build quality is surprisingly high. The two switches, one for...
Recommended for Small Spaces
This is a good product that looks good and has a neat rotary top that I have not seen before. I would say the price may be a little high for the power you get from it but it is a perfect fit for your work desk or home workspace. It measures 14 and a half inches high and has about a 6 and a half inch diameter. So it will fit in the smallest of spaces.
Pros:
-Tilting top for constant airflow in a specific direction
-3 speeds & great oscillation
-Optimal for small spaces on even the messiest workspace
Cons:
-Only covers an area of roughly 3-4 feet, even on highest setting
-Can't be used from a long range
-very low power
I give this product three stars possibly because of the way I have it setup. It is setup to the left side of my laptop dock about 1 and a half feet away from me. It helps keep my laptop cool as well as myself. Again, if you need something powerful this is not your fan. Lastly, I ordered it with free shipping...
Great fan for smaller space
I have three of these fans and move them around as required. They are great for smaller spaces and are easily placed on the counter tops of bathrooms, dens and kitchens. Not as effective in a large room. The top part can be adjusted relative to the bottom part, and will direct air in different directions, while stationary or oscillating. I've rated it four stars because in smaller rooms this fan can be slightly noisy on high speed. Medium and low speed are quite acceptable. Note for those concerned about color: Depending on the model number, some fans described as "Platinum" are white, and some are a nondescript grey. Check which one you are ordering or you might be surprised.
