Longer Screws Available
If you have a recessed under-cabinet surface like I have, with a 1 1/2 inch skirt, nothing provided with the unit will enable you to mount it. The spacers are insufficient and the screws are too short, and nowhere in the documentation is there a cure. But before you go crazy trying to find screws and spacers long enough to jerry-rig a mount, as so many have done, call Black and Decker customer service and get parts. They know about the problem and have long screws and mounts to correctly mount the unit.

I haven't yet been able to try mine, so I don't know how good it is. But whoever is responsible for the absence 0f longer screws or advice on how to get them ought to be skinned.

why I bothered to write this review
The Amazon.com process, super deal, and availability for this unit were enough to sell me, but there were also other factors.
Initially I was becoming desperate as there were very few choices and none locally on this island out in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

First I needed a replacement for my 15 year old underconter machine.
Second Nothing that sets on the counter is welcome in my kitchen unless there is no other way.
Third I read all of the reviews of all existing in the market place machines.
Nobody really liked any of them for a variety of reasons not related to opening cans.
Fourth the reviews of this machine by all concerned were better than for other machines.

The bag ripper and sharpener are wasted on me I am far too tall to use them and the sharpening steel and fillet knife are too handy anyway.

Replaced an old opener
I had a Rival under the cabinet can opener that was terrific. It had a button to push to swing it up and out of the way when not in use. The Black and Decker is larger but fits well under the cabinet. So far it has proved to be very effecient. I haven't tried the bag opener yet but all in all it is a good product.

VacMaster Storage Roll, 8-Inch by 50-Feet Long, 1 Roll per Box

Economical, easy to use
Pre-made bags are handy, but they aren't always the right size. A rack of ribs is narrow; a small quantity of frozen peaches doesn't need a huge bag. It takes one fast, extra step to seal the bottom, but we find these particular bags to be totally reliable, to seal properly, and to save us money because we are never using a bigger bag than required. One more thing, though -- you need to spend the money on a good vacuum machine, or you'll end up frustrated. Since we have been using a high quality machine and bags such as these instead of zipper-type non-vacuum bags, we've been able to enjoy really good frozen foods.

A High Quality Product
I use this to vacuum pack and freeze racks of saint louis style ribs as soon as they come off the smoker. Since these vary in length, I can cut each piece to the required length. This is a high quality product and is exactly what I needed.

Forget Food Saver, Rival, and other vacuum storage rolls. This is the one to get. Lower price and equal or better than any of the rest. I've been using them for several years now and have had no problems with getting them to seal tight and prevent freezer burn. I make beef jerky and seal small amounts in these bags and have kept it without refrigeration for 6-8 months with no loss of flavor or quality. I've sealed shrimp in them, using an open zip lock freezer bag to keep the "horns" from poking holes in the sealer bag, and have frozen them for up to 2 years with no sign of reduced quality. Pecans sealed in these bags will last without freezing for a year or more. Great product!!!

Great Northern Popcorn 2-1/2-Ounce Black Tabletop Retro Style Compact Popcorn Popper Machine with Removable Tray

Great movie theater style popcorn.
This is a great size for one or two people when you want movie theater style popcorn.I have a older 8 ounce Gold Medal popcorn popper and this Great Northern is like a miniature version of the big commercial popcorn poppers. This makes a good large single serving or two medium servings from one of the 2.5 ounce pre measured bags of popcorn, salt and coconut oil. This is so much easier to clean and maintain than my large Gold Medal machine and I have a lot less wasted popcorn. Unless you need to make really large quantities of popcorn, I recommend the Great Northern Machine.

I ordered this for my daughter's 5th birthday party-- 1 day shipping through Prime was a life saver!
Getting the basket in was a bit tricky, but a friend took care of it while I was finishing up the cake before the party.
I used coconut oil for popping and allowed the guests to salt/butter their own. I missed (if it was listed) that the unit came with a nice stack of bags, and went to the dollar store the day before the party and spent $15 on 30 plastic individual popcorn tubs. (These will be great to use in the future, of course.)
The best part, though, was after the party-- I made some kettle corn by adding about 1/4c of sugar when I added the oil & kernels.. it was so delicious that I don't anticipate packing the machine away like I originally thought-- I think it will be a permanent fixture in our retro themed kitchen :)

Hello Kitty Slow Cooker - Pink (APP-41209)

small but effective
The product listing has it listed as a toy. A toy it may be but it is very functional for dorm living. I sent this to my daughter who is away at school and she loves using this. She loves to cook but does not have a bona fide kitchen. At the very least this is convenient for a single person and it's Hello Kitty, which she loves.

Water Sentinel WSL-3 Replacement Fridge Filter, 2-Pack

Not Same Quality as OEM
This product although cheaper is only tested to NSF standards not certified by NSF. It only removes contaminents to NSF42 standards which is basically taste. The OEM is CERTIFIED NSF 42 and 53. NSF/ANSI Standard 53 are: heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury and selenium), inorganics (fluoride and nitrate plus nitrite) and volatile organic chemicals (chloroform surrogate as well as individual organic chemicals. These filters will fit just want everyone to make an informed decision of cost vs. quality. No I do not work for LG, Kenmore, etc. just did some research on my own and wanted everyone else to be able to decide for themselves.

Cheaper replacement, does its job
Works as intended - fits perfectly well into our LG fridge, at a fraction of the cost. Have not noticed a difference in water quality. Giving only 4 stars because after installation I had to run ~4 gallons of water through the filter until it came out clear. Original LG filter only required half that.

A heck of a lot cheaper than from Sears
Replaced old filter with no issues. Water now tastes great again. Last filter lasted over a year...time will tell on how long this one will last.

Holmes HM630-NU Cool Mist Tower Humidifier

Impressive design and features
In the past, I have been very disappointed with humidifiers. Either they leak or don't seem to do much of anything. However, this Holmes U Tower humidifier is sleek in design and has a few nice features such as:

- The two filters are easily accessible at the base of the unit.

- The tank is easy to handle, fill, and not too heavy to carry. If you have a small sink, you can always fill this slightly long tank in the bathtub or by using a teapot or water jug.

- You have the option to set the humdifier manually on low, medium, or high humidity continuously or you can set it to automatically go on at low, medium, or high at a pre-set humidity level. If you use the automtic feature, then the unit cycles on and off like a thermostat would (although it does that too frequently for my taste).

- In addition, the display shows the humidity of the room the unit is in, which is a nice feature.

- The humidity level increases pretty fast,...

Know your water
Love the unit itself, however after 3 days of running it only 8 hours a night, I noticed the filter guage was saying "Replace Filter"

So I called the company to say, "hey .. it's only been 3 days. I think the filter guage is broken" and they had me check the filter (it was yellow and crusty) and they said, "no .. it's your water. you need to replace your filter or use distilled water." Then she laughed and said they had customers that replace their filters several times a week because of their water

So of course I'm not going to replace my filter every 3 days and I'm not going to use a couple gallons of distilled water every night before I go to bed in this thing ...

so if you have hard water .. this may not be the unit for you. Buyer Beware.

Good features, but loud
Pros:

- displays humidity all the time

- variable speed settings. 3 manual and 3 auto speed.

- tower design does not take up too much space.

- easy to add water and change filter.

Cons:

- due to the size (length) of the tank, you do need a deep sink to add water. I use the bath tub.

- the fan is loud even at lowest setting.

Capresso Froth TEC Automatic Milk Frother

Delicious!
Coffee latte with strong espresso and frothed heated milk in the morning is one of life's great pleasures. However, it is not so easy to duplicate the product of a professional coffee shop at home. The high pressure espresso machine of the pros produces an intense brew which only the most expensive home machines can approach. And then there is the frothed milk.

This is a head to head comparison of two milk heater-frothers, by Capresso and Jura. They cost about the same. I used 6 oz of whole milk and followed the instructions carefully. My report:

-Design and build quality. The Capresso is a lovely precision design, with a glass milk container. It has a removable frothing disk that rotates in the bottom. The Jura is somewhat simpler, and the milk container is teflon. The capacity of the Capresso is larger, if you are trying to froth up your partner as well as yourself. So to speak.

-Frothing efficiency. They both worked well but the Capresso produced a...

Not as good as the Capresso Froth Pro
There is nothing I enjoy more than a cup of nice frothed milk or hot chocolate, and I've owned a number of milk frothers and espresso machines to use for this purpose. What I'm looking for in a milk frother is that it will make a nice cup of dense heated froth (not a lot of runny milk) be easy to clean, and not dangerous or difficult to operate.

I confess I thought this frother wasn't really up to snuff. The frothed milk it produced was low in foam (just a lot of warm milk with a very little foam on top) it took a long time to heat up, and it cooked milk onto the bottom of the froth container, which made it harder to clean There are lots of small parts you have to individually clean. Not good.

Compared to other excellent products like the easy to use, Capresso Frothpro, which this company also makes, with only 1 part you have to wash, and no problem cleaning, this machine was a pain. The milk I made in it was low in froth filled with air, and the scalded cooked...

Squeezy Freezy Instant Slushy Maker As Seen On TV *Ships in random colors*

Works GREAT!
My 2 kids (ages 9 and 14) are hooked on slushies using the Squeezy Freezy. I picked them up at a local retail store and I was a little skeptical about how well they would work, but these things are awesome! There are 3 keys to successful slushies though: 1) They Squeezy Freezy MUST be fully frozen. Let it freeze a full 4 or 5 hours before using (no matter how impatient the kids are to try it the first time); 2) Use only COLD drinks inside. Room temperature drinks melt the inside of the Squeezy Freezy and you don't get a good slush; and 3) Let the slushy sit for a minute or two before squeezing the sides. The longer you let it sit, the more the ice starts to form on the inside and the better the slushy you get. The kids use the spoon to get the slushie really going and just the motion of squeezing the sides doesn't seem to be enough. The spoon helps a lot.

OMG! Something "As Seen on TV" actually works??


You have to freeze it in the BACK of your freezer!!!!
Put it in the BACK of your freezer. I don't know why they don't put that on the box. It has to freeze completely solid and crackily or it wont work. Works better than a slurpee! I put two in the front of my freezer and two in the back. Pulled them out and the back two were frozen solid (and worked better than a slurpee), front two not so much, still squishy did not completely freeze the soda. I wish everyone knew to put them in the BACK of the freezer!

Lasko 4820 48-Inch Tower Fan with Ionizer and Remote Control

This thing is TALL!!!!
When I ordered this fan I didn't realize exactly how tall it would be, but I love it being that tall!! It is very silent and was easy to assemble from the box. This tall fan sends out enough airflow to cool my entire living room. I have it placed under my AC vent since the vent does not send enough cooling to the rest of the room and now I have a cooler living room.

All together, good product, easy to assemble, and very quiet operation.

This is my 3rd Lasko fan, spread out through my house. Living here in Georgia during summertime, they help circulate cool air and keep house comfortable.

I'm still happy with the operation... BUT, when it was time to clean the inside, it's a different story. Wherever this was assembled, they used probably too many screws and a couple were not the same as the others and would not come out. Finally drilled the problem screws out then threw them away. To secure the back or access cover, I used Velcro strips on each side. It holds the cover on just fine and the next cleaning the cover will come off in less than a minute and back on in less than a minute. Possibly these companies should consider Velcro. Sports shoes come with Velcro and hold them on your feet. Arise people! Use Velcro on anything.

I cannot really complain about this fan. The base was just slightly difficult to assemble by someone not mechanically inclined. It's quiet enough, much more so than my old style floor fan that was in the way a lot. This stands in a 90

Amish Country Popcorn Popping Oil

oxymoron: Amish Country - Hydrogenated Canola Oil
I was excited to find high heat oil since our local store was temporarily out of our usual brand. I assumed this would be natural and just oil like the sunflower and safflower oils we usually buy at New Seasons. Then there's that word, "Amish" - evokes images of natural, of the earth. It arrived with its Beta Carotene enhanced color - OK, I'm all about carrots, but then I read the rest of the ingredients, "partially hydrogenated canola oil." I don't need anything hydrogenated, partially, or otherwise, on my popcorn. If that's what I want, I'll walk down to the Valley Theater and buy a bucket.

At least Chefs.com found irony in it as well and quickly gave me a refund over the phone for the amount I paid.

Good Stuff!!
It smells just like the theater stuff & adds color too. We use this with our Stir Crazy popper -makes great tasting buttery, fluffy & crunchy popcorn. It's also canola oil, so it's healthy; and it's natural too I'm guessing as it's produced by the Amish. I would definitely recommend!

It's fine, but shipping is expensive
The oil is fine, no real complaints there. I think the type of popcorn you use determines flavor a lot more than the oil you use does though.

The only negative is the shipping charges when added into the cost of the product. You can likely find something at a local store for about the same cost, and avoid paying for shipping.

MaxiMatic EQD-118 Elite Cuisine 11-Inch Quesadilla Maker

This product works just fine. It gets the job done, is easy to clean and performs as advertised. It was worth the money.

We liked it sooooo much we bought a second one for our RV. LARGE...can handle the 11", large tortillas and make nice quesadillas for everyone. Love it.

A better sized product
This is a "real true-to-size" quesadilla maker that truly fits the standard "large" tortillas, not the "smaller" brands you see in stores and online (most are 8" or so). This one REALLY FITS the larger size tortillas - we use whole wheat ones - and you can put PLENTY of "stuffing stuff" in them, as well. It works quite well, it's a good, reasonably constructed product. If you're looking for "real sized" quesadillas, look no further.

Mr. Heater MHGLLPG Base Camp Pro Series Indoor Propane Gaslight, Gray

I bought four
I bought four of these and am extremely happy with light performance. They are easy to install and give off great light (you do have to be able to run gas lines though). I did not open the light boxes till after I had them on site, out of country. Mistake on my part. Three of the preformed mantels were trashed out of the four, and one of the glass globes was broken. Since I planned on using the tie on mantels anyway, could care less about the preformed. I'm still going to buy a couple more of these lights.

Mr. Heater
Well, bought this to replace the original lamp in the 71 Shasta Compact I am rebuilding. The fit is almost identical to the original light in the trailer. The lamp housing is of good quality and the gas valve works nicely. Best of all, they are available!

Reliable, easy to operate, low maintainence
We purchased the first of these gaslights for use in a remote cabin with no electrical service. For several years, we used wick-type oil lamps and enjoyed the pleasant yellow-band light. But oil lamps require adjustment, trimming, cleaning, and refilling. So about a fat year ago, we tried one of these propane gaslights. It was plumbed through the wall to an eighteen pound propane canister set in a small enclosure outside the cabin wall. A 1/4" copper tube connects to the lamp through the wall. The lamp lights easily and provides about the same light as a sixty watt electric bulb. The control is basically, ON-OFF, without much effective modulation. The rigid mantles seem to work and last as expected, tho' the manual suggests they are less bright than the traditional tie-on type. The color of the light is amber (similar to the oil lamps), and is bright enough to read small print from an adjacent chair. Propane use appears to be very economical as the original eighteen pound bottle...

NEW Replacement Part - Kenmore Washer Clutch Kit Part# 285785

Clutch kit worked.
Had to use some old parts with the new. Some of the new parts (center ring) did not fit on the new disk. Had to use the old one.

A month installed and my washer is spinning happily

Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner Style 19 Belts

It's a belt, what do you need to know?
This is the belt my Dirt Devil Vacuum uses. A belt is a belt as far as I'm concerned, you can comparison shop all you like but I seriously doubt there's much difference in quality. I buy them from Amazon because it's a lot easier to find the specific belt I need when there are so many different kinds available. You just never know if a physical store is going to carry the exact one you need. Also, Amazon can usually beat anyone's price, even Walmart.

Anyway, these are easy enough to install and they last a good long while. Worth the money.

Love it!!!
Fast and easy to assemble and mount. Has a sleek & sexy look to it and heats up your room in no time. Definitely one of the best on the market! I have a similar one that is a free standing floor type which works well but not nearly as sturdy built. It does have the convenience of it being out of the way on the wall it takes up floor space so this gives same benefit but having it on the wall is even better and out of the way.

Pros compared to the other ones on the market are:

My huband bought me this for my birthday and I must say that it adds quite a relaxing feature to our room. It also gives off heat so it was great through the winter. The product is easy to install and I really enjoy having it.

Great Product
I bought this to add some depth to my Family Room. I chose this model because the rocks looked real, not knowing that they actually give you real rocks. Also installation was a breeze as long as you have a stud finder or you know where your stud is located. At least put two screws in a stud and you will be all set.

Does just what I wanted.
I bought this rice cooker to increase the capacity of my sous vide set up and it does that superbly. I have not used it to cook rice.

General Electric WB15X10020 Handle Assembly

This handle is the exact replacement for the one that broke. I have had to replace the handle twice in about 11 years. I think the price for this piece of plastic is ridiculous, and thats after I shopped for the lowest price!

Don't buy this handle. Though it looked great and fit great, this cheaply made but expensive handle lasted about 15 months before it broke. The original lasted over ten years. This one broke in the same place as the original. Better off making a new handle out of wood, or something else.

In the past I paid to have the handle installed . It took 3 mins. and cost $50.00 I did it myself this time . No problem.

Oster VERSA 1400-watt Professional Performance Blender with Short Jar, BLSTVB-RV0-000

I'm a little bit obsessed with blenders, and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to mechanical things, and the design of them, so when I saw this new Oster VERSA I couldn't help myself - I had to give it a "whirl" :)

Let me cut to the chase, it's a very good design, and well executed, and a good value in today's market. I do have one small quibble, which I note below, and for that reason I am only giving it three stars for now. (revised to five stars, see below)

For my first test of the VERSA I had peeled and cored two large apples, a thick skinned variety (Sonata from WA state) to make an apple sauce fruit compote to top banana ice cream. So I was looking at that small pile of roughage on the cutting board and thought, why not? So into the VERSA went skins, seeds, stems, and cores, with sufficient water, to see whether it could emulsify tough vegetable fiber as well as a Vitamix. Oster VERSA, better than Vitamix!
We recently needed a performance blender especially for mixing fruit/veggie smoothies and actually bought the Vitamix from Costco first. After coming across many very positive reviews for this blender (but the earlier model with the taller jar) we decided to try it with the intention of returning it if it didn't compare to the Vitamix. Not only does it compare, but for the money you save over the Vitamix, it's a no-brainer. So, back to Costco the Vitamix went.
My only concern would be if it will hold up for the long haul. But the fact that it has the same 7 year warranty as the Vitamix gives some piece of mind, though time will tell. Save yourself some serious $$$ and try this blender... You won't be sorry.

I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with this purchase!! When I saw the 2 min video on taking apart the dishwasher and showing this part, I immediately was able to disassemble my dishwasher and discover the source of poor performance!! This machine came with the house 4 years ago and didn't work so well then and only got worse. When I got into the machine, I couldn't believe what was in there and this part was broken due to all the junk. The repair literally was done in 10 minutes and the machine has never worked better in 5 years. Maybe I need a life but his was SO exciting!!

Cafe Uno One Cup Coffee Maker

Makes really good coffee if ...
On getting ready to order another Cafe Uno I decided to read some other opinions. Hmm. Here's a recommendation for everyone who orders any one of these one cup coffee makers: Use a paper filter. With this unit I simply cut a paper napkin into 16 little squares and place one in the basket on each making. On the other two one cup makers I purchased I used regular coffee filters (small ones). The other two units I bought were made by Brookstone and Black & Decker. I've owned the Brookstone for several years. It's been excellent. It's just getting old and the coffee doesn't taste as good as it used to. The Black & Decker lasted for a month before it burned out (sometimes with these I forget to add water, realize my mistake, then put the water in without letting it cool down). You shouldn't shock the heater that way, but on the other hand, both the Brookstone and the Uno One have been very forgiving. The one thing the Uno One doesn't have that the others had is an automatic...

Seems great at first, but is a piece of junk
This is one of those items that seems great at first but quickly shows its true colors. I bought mine from an online auction site (you know the one I'm talking about).

I'd searched for a good one cup coffee maker (don't want the pod type) with the smallest possible footprint for quite a while before buying this one. After trying three or four machines I'm still looking.

Even though, strangely enough, it makes quite a good cup of coffee, I can't believe there are any positive reviews of this product at all.

I never tried brewing a cup of coffee using the permanent filter. What's the point? It's too much trouble cleaning that style filter. Why anyone would use such a filter is a mystery to me. What I did was cut down larger sized paper filters.

I bought this for my 90 year old parents as a replacement for the same item that was 20 years old and stopped heating. I don't belive i would use this item but for them it's perfect. No cups to buy just there normal coffee and tea and they are set. It's simple and works well.

Exactly What We Were Looking For
We originally purchased a compact fridge to keep downstairs. Rush, not full knowledge of how different these work,was #1 Priority when I became wheelchair bound and spent most of my time on the lower level of our home. The wrong decision (freezer never used) resulted in a freon leak because the freezer had never been defrosted.

Was very pleased with overall look and construction. Smooth door opening and closing. Plenty of room without a freezer area.

Surprisingly good product
Well, I was kind of not sure about this fridge due to overall questionable rating (bad packaging, bad door, leaks, etc.,) but given the fact I really needed it for this weekend, I decided to go for it.

Packaging is decent. Not the type you'd expect from a Samsung fridge but it had about half inch of a cushion inside the box.
Box was not damaged when it came in.

I didn't find any scratches as well.
Door may be a bit misaligned but just few milometers.

Noise level is very acceptable.
If it will last, its a good purchase.

Exceptional value for such a high-quality product.
Well made. Heavy-duty construction. A knockout for hard-wired electrical connection would be helpful. Eight-inch discharge hard to match to five-inch duct in my house. Replaced my 5-inch duct with 6-inch round steel duct with a 6-inch aluminum cap. Used 8-inch to 6-inch steel reducer to connect hood to duct. Sealed new duct work with brush-on duct sealant and taped connection to hood outlet. New unit is 3 times heavier than old unit. New unit is actually 29 1/2 inches wide, so when replacing a 30-inch wide under cabinet mounted hood you might have wider gaps on each side with the new unit. Prepare accordingly when installing. Easier to clean than old unit, blower is louder, but is also four times more powerful.

Perfect!
We replaced a 14 years old hood. This is nice since no odor remains in kitchen. Also has the remote to start and automatic sensor which will eliminate dents, scratchers on the hood. Sensor will detect the heat and blower will start automatically and generally increase the speed. Definitely, no need of candles to reduce the odor later.

One thing, this is about 62lbs heavy and if installing yourself, make sure you have 3 men at least to help you.

I've own it and installed it for couple of weeks. It's a very nice product. I called the seller and was told that there is three year warranty with the hood. Prompt delivery and it worked like described. You pay at least 50% higher for brand products. I think this product worth a try.

When you order, please note that the unit does not come with all install parts. For mine, I ordered a 8" hood exit that goes through the wall. I had to order one from Amazon made by Air King. Don't expect to find such a large pipe from local hardware stores, I could not find anything even close to it at Menards and Lowe's. Of course you also need a metal collar that tightens the connection. I also ordered from Amazon.

The unit does include a flexible connection pipe which is very handy and good quality. You definitely need it. It can turn in any directions. When you deal with a large pipe of 8", remember that the space between studs is only 16", you may need to position...

Fits well over my standard ironing board, was extremely easy to put on and has a nice simple pattern that is pleasing.

Homz Over the Door Cover and Pad

i ordered this product as I have a Homz wall hung ironing board. I measured the board and the cover was supposedly the one that would fit. However, it did not fit. It was too short and because it was elastized, i couldn't stretch it to the end./ The return policy from this supplier was complex. It said you could not get a refund if you opened the package. Don't know how you are supposed to try this cover without opening the package plus they would charge you a repacking fee.
I will not recommend this supplier and will not order from them again.

Pad not very thick
Was quite pleased to finally find the right size ironing board cover to replace my old, worn out over-the-door model. The fit was perfect, nice & snug (snapped perfectly into place).

However, after a month of use, I'm very disappointed in the thickness of the pad. It's thinner than the old one I replaced. I've had to put a towel under it to prevent the metal grill from the ironing board from showing through when I iron lightweight fabrics. My old pad had attached foam - this one is basically a cotton quilt-like material with no foam. It's not worth my time or cost to return it (plus I already threw out the package).

Dap 18854 Stove and Fireplace Mortar 10-Ounce

Not pleased after a few weeks
I was looking for a simple fireplace mortar fix for some work around my woodburner. I bought 5 tubes of this stuff for about $6.50 a piece. It went on easily and dried with a black shine to it. It looked good for a few weeks but after a few fires, it turned to almost a light grey color and pieces began to peel up and flake off. I still do not know why this happened but I'm definately not happy with it and and would not recommend it.

I used this to caulk around the edges and the stones in a stone fireplace when installing a fireplace stove insert. It was easy to use and apply and looked great initially, but it quickly faded from black to a grey/white tint when exposed to heat, making the groutlines look not so great...

Home stores ROB you for this stuff, I was literally price shocked in the HD when I found this stuff, came straight home and found it here, less than HALF of what HD wanted for it. Good stuff too, just don't make a mess as its not easy to clean up!

Furi FUR626 Ozitech Diamond Fingers Pro Knife Sharpener

Terrific knife sharpener
My wife was given an expensive Furi knife as a gift. I didn't want this to be relegated to the bottom of the kitchen odd-and-ends drawer because I couldn't sharpen it properly. I have (or had) number of different sharpeners, all useless or difficult to use: tungsten carbide pull-through, traditional steel, can-opener &c. So I got the Ozitech because it's Furi's own sharpener.

It's brilliant and easy to use. Not only does it keep the Furi in good shape it did a terrific sharpening job on a lot of other knives I haven't used for years. A quality Victorinox boning knife is now razor-sharp and a pleasure to use. I resurrected a couple of cheap-and-nasty stainless steel Chinese knifes - even they are now useable. We tried the tomato test with the cheap carving knife - just pressed it flat. Ten strokes through the Ozitech and it slices it neatly and easily, and I went to on to carve the roast lamb with it later that evening. It might not hold an edge but with the Ozitech...

does what it's supposed to
Tried this on my favorite but often dull chefs knife and after 4-6 strokes was very very sharp. Works great as promised. casing cheap so not sure how long that will last or if it will hamper it's operation. compact, stores well, would be great for motor home or other small kitchen. For $29, makes me wonder what the $99 version does that Amazon also carries. knocked a star off for the cheap plastic case.

It works
Easy to use and it works as advertised.

I had one really dull knife and I did 6 swipes through the thing as suggested. Didn't do much. I thought the gizmo might not be any good or at least not up to this particular task . Another 10 swipes and this knife is sharp as the deuce.

I'm pleased. Beats trying to get the angle right on a steel or living with dull knives.

You can see the diamond pieces and really feel them sharpening as you pull the knife through the fingers. An ingenious device.

They give you ample warning, but be careful opening the thing. It's plastic and you can break it in an instant if you try to force it the wrong way.

BonJour Caffe Froth Maximus Milk Frother

Know the tricks!
This frother works extremely well. If you buy it, just make sure you know the following tricks, in order to get the perfect foam:

1. ZERO fat milk. Not 1%....zero.

2. Heat the milk up in a microwave, inside the frother, for 1 minute

3. Pump the milk gently, being sure to bring the plunger ABOVE the level of the milk/froth with each stroke. This forces more air into the milk.

This brother works very well and I am very happy with it.
I love my morning capuccino and like a lot of thick froth on it. I purchased this frother as a replacement for a BonJour frother I have had and used for about 10 years. The plastic on the bottom of the "plunger" finally broke, but it still functioned until the screen tore. Then I taped it on and continued to use it for a couple of weeks. I then (foolishly!) purchased another brand and it is far inferior to the BonJour. The "plunger" does not fit tightly enough in the glass carafe and the milk does not froth well, either hot or cold. Also it is extremely light-weight as opposed to the BonJour. I ordered another BonJour which came today and they have even made some improvements in it since I bought my old one, having replaced the plastic part on the bottom of the plunger (which is what broke on my old one) with metal - a VERY good idea! In addition, the "coaster" is now made of silicone and the carafe sits tightly in it, as opposed to the old model where the coaster was plastic...

Manual frothers work so much better than the battery powered ones... for getting thick foam for my morning lattes. This versions is a much nicer milk frother than the bodum version (which I owed). The actual frothing screen on the bodum torn itself apart - after three years though (so a good run) but once the plastic cracked, it was game over. The mechanism on the BonJour is held in place with a metal retainer. Sleek stainless steel top, has it's drawbacks. One it's top heavy (duh), and second the top gets pretty hot while frothing the milk.

Sunpentown SD-350TI Mini Dehumidifier with UV Light and TiO2

I bought two mini dehumidifier at once, this one and the Eva-dry EDV-1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifier. Hands down, the Eva-dry out performs this! They are about 7' apart, but yet the Eva dry can pull out about 8oz of water every 3 days, compared to the 2 tblsp or so this device does.

However, this device is much quieter than the Eva-dry.

As for the UV light, is it really necessary? Better yet...does it really even work? I wouldnt know....

This dehumidifier would not pull moister from a small bathroom after a shower. Wast of money.

Weak, not worth the money
I brought this dehumidifier for my bathroom. It only collected about a table spoon full of water after two days of continuous running. The excessive amount of sweat on the plumbing and the toilet talk tells me that there is enough moisture in the air for it to collect. I regret my purchase and will not recomment it to anyone.

The only positive thing I found is the UV light, that seemed to have an effect on the air quality.

A/C Safe AC-160 Universal Heavy Duty Window Air Conditioner Support

It is not universal
I am disappointed in this bracket. It can hold an AC unit, but it requires a lot of finagling. To keep the lower bracket from slipping down, I had to drill a hole in the lower pad and drive a screw in the wall. To get the AC unit to sit flat on the bracket, I had to cut a piece of the right thickness wood and insert it between the AC and bracket. By the time I got done messing with this thing, I might as well have built my own wooden bracket and saved my money.

This product says it is universal, but it is not. It only works well if your AC unit is completely flat on the bottom and if you have a certain type of wall that will keep the lower pad from slipping.

However, to be fair, two of these mounted under my one AC unit would have worked well. With the way the bottom of my AC unit was designed, one bracket placed in the center of the AC unit would not sit flat because of the protrusions under the AC unit. But the AC unit was flat on the two edges. I still would...

Good concept, not sure it truly "universal"
I just installed this. My window is a replacement in a 100+ year old house. The layout is different from what the diagram suggested. My window has a 3/16" frame that sticks up in front of window and near the outer end so it doesn't have a smooth sill. I had to add more of a sill b/c the instructions say 4" minimum (take a star away from that). I added it on the outside using a treated 2x4. I then screwed that down in multiple place to my house. I then installed the shelf. My next issue was my aluminum siding. The bottom bar pushes against it. The siding is not flat so the top of the shelf would drop a little as the siding tilts. I got it into position but again another star taken away b/c this is not a truly universal product. The instructions are good. The concept is great, esp. for folks on a 2nd+ floor who can't easily access the window from the outside.

Great product...this is the 2nd one I own
I don't remember where I got my first one, but when I needed a 2nd window unit, I didn't hesitate to buy another here on Amazon. This is easy to install, looks great from the outside, doesn't take up a lot of space, and most importantly, does the job. We have a house built in 1927 with the original windows...this fit the bill. The installation instructions are easy to follow. If you need a window air conditioner support, I highly recommend this one.

Insinkerator FLG-ORB Sink Flange, Oil Rubbed Bronze

Do not buy this item!
We purchased this to go with our new faucet, countertops and sink. Within one month of install, it began chipping. It appears that the item is not "oil-rubbed bronze" but plain old brown paint. Very, very disappointed.

Poor Finish...
Looked alright when installed. Not really a very convincing oil rubbed bronze, but from a distance it has the right color to it. However, after only a month or so, the edge of the 'paint' started to flake off in large pieces. I could understand if it was just wearing through, but it crackles off like old dry paint. Poor job Insinkerator.

Beware of matte black finish!!
The matte black disposer flange & stopper look beautiful in my black blanco sink but within 6 months the black coating started to chip off. I will not purchase the matte black again. I will purchase the stainless steel insinkerator flange & stopper since they work well & are simple to use.

Danby DAR125SLDD 4.4 cu.ft. All Refrigerator - Spotless Steel

Beer Lovers Rejoice!
I bought this fridge short notice when a defrosting attempt rendered my last beer fridge inoperable, and I felt a little pressured to hit the Go button on it as my tasty 12oz's of Heaven slowly warmed. But I must say I'm not disappointed at all! It's a great size, looks fantastic, isn't as heavy as I thought it would be, is very quiet, and keeps more than 60 bottles of Sam Adams ice cold and within arms reach with room to spare! My original fridge was a Kenmore job, with a pathetic waste-of-space freezer section (which this does not have) that for some unknown reason Sears saw fit to make the freezer floor out of the cooling element. So of course it iced up like you read about, and I, like many a man before me, took the task of removing this ice seriously (it was encroaching on my beer space as it grew!)...and pulled out my trusty, and ridiculously pointy, pocket knife. Great Fridge
We purchased this refrigerator for our outside entertainment bar because of its size and energy efficiency rating. So far we are very satisfied. It is a quiet and maintains internal temperature keeping everything nice and cold. There are plenty of shelving options as they are all adjustable. The door has 10 can holder slots for beer or soda and also has adjustable shelves for bottles of soda or wine. There is a drawer on the bottom perfect for storing garnishes, cheeses or meats. There is plenty of room in the rest of the fridge to fill as you please. The door really is spot resistent, we are not constantly cleaning it! This was a great purchase; we highly recommend this item.

My Beers!!!!
I had my Danby less than 24 hours before the problems started. I had the thermostat set at slightly more than half (probably 6/10) for the first night it was in use. The next day, I discovered that all of my 6 (expensive!) bottled beers on the bottom shelf (above crisper drawer) had frozen, and 3 of them had burst causing beer to go everywhere! Checked the rest of the beverages in the fridge to see if they were also close to bursting, but found those in the middle & top shelves not even beginning to freeze.

After this fiasco, I set the thermostat to about a third of the way up (probably 3/10) so as not to have a repeat incident. After another 6 hours, the stuff on the bottom did not freeze, but was very cold (great!). However, the items on the top shelf were barely even cool to the touch (not great). I proceeded to do a little test with a refrigeration thermometer leaving the thermostat at about one-third. After 30 minutes, the bottom shelf read 37 degrees. I moved...

Best Floor Fan Ever!
We ordered this fan after reading another on-line review. It lives up to its reputation....it is very quiet and gives a good strong breeze when needed. This fan was in a cabana I rented for a day by the pool on a day in Florda that hit 93 degrees...I thought I actually had air conditioning outdoors. This fan is QUIET, you can use the oscillation or not. It has 3 speeds (low, med or high). It is quiet at all speeds. It truly made a hot, humid day very comfortable. I tried locating this fan at local stores and couldn't find it, so I was excited to see Amazon had it for sale. You will not be disappointed. It is about $20 more expensive than similar models, but I actually tested this one in the cabana and I was sold. You are not going to regret it!!

Bissell Clean Along 48K2 Canister Vacuum Cleaner Bags 203-7270, 2037270

Worst vacuum I ever had.
I also hate this vacuum. It is difficult to move around, it's almost impossible to get the attachments on and off , the bags are not available in many stores and they are expensive too. I put off vacuuming rather than face this monstrosity. There are so many good vacs out there---DO NOT buy this one. The only good thing I can say is that the suction is good BUT if you can't get the thing to go where you want to use it, having suction doesn't help you.I dream of finding a way to kill this one so I can get a new one.

I hate this vacuum. It's the worst one I ever had. It's too difficult to get attachments on and off. Little pieces get stuck everywhere in the suction hose. Even pulling the cable in is a hazard. I can't believe that bissell made such a poor engineered product. In addition, the bags are way too expensive.

what a piece of junk
This vacuum sucks- and not in a good way. The latch cover on mine broke- its a flimsy piece of plastic with 2 tiny teats that are meant to hold the whole thing together. For a part that gets regular use like that- don't you think the company would make it from metal?! And guess what- it can't be fixed! I've called several vacuum repair centers and they can't get the part- the company doesn't make it available. Probably because it's a 10 cent part. Shame on you Bissell. I'll never buy from them again.

Jiffy Steamer 1042 lint brush.

Works better than tape!!
OK so I have one of these lint brushes in my laundry room and finally got arround to ordering a second for my room (daughters take it all the time). We have a white dog and this brush is great helping with that and the lint that tends to get on dark clothes when in the dryer with kids stuff. I will say my grandparents had these and I had used the sticky roller for a while but decided to get this velvet kind again and the difference is remarkable the brush gets things so much cleaner and is easier to clean. So whether it is a suit or pants this thing cleans up great.

Eureka filter
I ordered this set of 3, and only one ever arrived. Couldn't contact anyone to get the other 2, as the first one came in a box without any receipt or paperwork of any kind.

amazon.com excellent source for these filters
This is the particular filter my vacuum requires, and I've found amazon.com to be an excellent source in terms of price and--of course--shipping time. I have amazonPrime, so shipping is free. I vacuum about 1000sf of carpet just once a week, and change the filters about every 3 months. The 'instructions' say to change monthly, but I've found that if every couple weeks I clean the filter and rinse it with full blast hot water from the tap, dry it in the sun, then replace it, they last a good 3 months. If you're more fastidious than I am, you may not want to mess with all that, so change them monthly.

I'm never ceased to be amazed that this $40 vacuum does such a great job. In fact, I bought my first one of this brand around 1998, and when I needed to replace it in 2008, I bought the newer model of the same thing.

Dritz Petite Press Portable Mini Iron

Great little iron
I purchased this for a specific need, to be able to iron within the embroidery hoop space with a fusible stabilizer. I had several tee shirts to embroider and wanted to hoop the stabilizer but not the shirts to prevent any hoop burn. I tried several methods including using a regular iron to attach the shirt and then hoop the stablizer, wasn't particularly pleased. With this little tool, I hooped the fusible and could perfectly lay the shirt on top, pin it exactly where I wanted it and then get in there with this little iron. Works like a charm, and gets hot enough to fuse. There are 4 heat settings and I used level 3 to fuse, it was a poly shirt so I didn't want to try 4. It was quite hot enough and the fact that the iron face is adjustable made it easy to maneuver in the small space. I also have the tiny quilting iron, with the 1" sole plate, but this seemed to be better for me.

Love it!
I purchased this for a hand applique quilt class that I was attending and it works perfectly for template applique. This little iron works ten times better than the other little iron that is out there (I have purchased that one too and gave it away). Love this, portable, easy to use, heats up fast, couldn't be happier!

Excellent little tool for the sewer/quilter/embroiderer
My husband bought this for me several months ago after reading the reviews from others who bought it to iron in the embroidery hoop. That is the reason I bought it and I didn't expect to use it for more than that.

It definitely does well for that purpose. It is small and low profile so that I can leave the hoop on the machine, slip a thin mat under the hoop, and iron without removing the hoop from the machine.

However, I have found that it is also a great item to keep next to the sewing machine when I am piecing. My current project involves Y seams where I iron the seam open on the stem of the Y. I have always struggeled with how to do this without burning my hands and my full sized iron is clumsy for this. The petite press iron is perfect! Just the right size to handle this trick.

Don't get me wrong - this doesn't replace a full size iron with steam when you want to finish press your pieces. However, this is the right tool for a small job...

Aroma ARC-838TC 8-Cup (Uncooked), 16-Cup (Cooked) Digital Rice Cooker and Food Steamer, White

Wonderful Well Designed Cooker!
This is the fourth rice cooker I have owned and it is by far and away the best. The rice cooks right every time. The manual does give a guide of how much water to add for different types of rice but I have found that even when I screw up and do not use the right amount of water the rice has turned out pretty good.

I enjoy the fact that the device has a sealed top which really seems to help the rice be more consistent and also makes me feel better having this unit used with three small children in the house running around. The rice receptacle inside is a delightful non-stick surface that is more then easy to clean. The steam feature for other items works wonderful as well. I have left rice in the device for over two hours after cooking and it is still moist, tasty and not burnt. The one touch button cooking is a breeze and for me it takes about 30 minutes or so in most instances for the quantity I cook.

I'm amazed at just how well this basic rice cooker does its job! It's easy to clean, can keep cooked rice hot for hours and is extremely easy to use. I shopped around and considered the higher priced models but decided to start with something inexpensive to see if a rice cooker was really an appliance I needed in my kitchen. This one does a great job for a very reasonable price and I'm so glad I didn't pay more. We're using it to cook Basmati rice (bought in bulk) and with this cooker it turns out perfect every time. It really does wonders to help stretch our food budget.

Perfect Rice!
It cooks my rice perfect every time. It's important to always use there measurment guides. There cup size measures differently from traditional measures. (measuring cup is included). For those who complain about the rice sticking to the bottom of pan (reviews from Target website), the directions do state to add an extra cup of water - depending on the type of rice being cooked. Also, little things like if you rinse your rice also make a big difference, because it reduces starches and nutrients. Not to mention that if you are cooking your typical white rice (long-grain) always get rice that has been imported from Thialand, never rinse it. The rice is of better quality, cooks better and tastes great. You can buy Jasmine brand at Walmart $4 for a 5 lb bag, or find a specialty store. Black & Decker BDH1850SM 2-in-1 Steam Mop

Much more than a 2 in 1!
This steamer mop is much more than a 2 in 1. I have cleaned almost the whole house with this thing! I cleaned my vinyl floors, my carpet, my mirrors and windows, my childs highchair, our dining chairs, the quartz counters, the microwave and the stove grates with this little steamer and then took the wrinkles out of a shirt!

Starting with the floors. The mop is really easy to set up, you dump water into it the same way you would an iron. It has a large reservoir that will last a few cleanings easily. When you turn it on you wait for the color of the water to turn from red to blue meaning it is ready to use, which took quite literally 30 seconds. This is so much faster than the 5 minute warm up time for my other machine. It is feasible to leave this nearby and bring it out for quick clean ups. Black & Decker BDH1850SM 2-in-1 steam mop

I have over 1500 square feet of tile and laminate flooring in my home. I rely on a Roomba to clean up dry debris on a daily basis but I still have to "mop it down" about every 2 weeks. I've been relying on Wet Swiffer pads but I've always been interested in an option that didn't require as much discarded material. This Black & Decker steam mops gives me the cleaning power I need while not requiring me to stop and change disposable pads every few minutes.

The B&D steam mop has settings for three different surfaces. I chose the "wood & laminate" setting for my laminate flooring and the "stone & tile" setting for my ceramic and travertine tile. Velcro holds a very soft micro-fiber cloth onto the head of the steam mop. The cloth is so soft that I had no concern of scratching any of the surfaces. If you have tile or hardwood flooring, like I do, this Black & Decker BDH1850SM 2-in-1 Steam Mop MUST HAVE. If you were one of the first to own a steam mop when they became popular 15 years ago, please read. I have owned several steam mops because we are in the catering business. I remember those infomercials back in the 90's and actually purchased one. It was a piece of crap with too many quirks. Steam mops have come a long way and have vastly improved today. This is because of constant improvements over the years.

The mop is electric. NEVER BUY A CORDLESS OR RECHARGEABLE STEAMER. They require too much power to properly heat and make steam...ONLY BUY A CORDED OR NON RECHARGE UNIT.

Black & Decker T2707SB 2-Slice Toaster, Black

Attractive solidly built toaster!
I bought this toaster to replace my 14 year old Procter Silex toaster, which still works great, but had some issues that were starting to annoy me. I looked at this and a Cuisinart model, but decided to go with the Black and Decker because it looked more attractive. I must say that I am not dissapointed thus far. I love the bagel, defrost and reheat settings! My old toaster had wide slots, but the ones on the Black and Decker are larger, so they will do better with toasting bagels. Another thing I love about this toaster is that when you choose the "bagel" setting it only browns one side of the bagel. How cool is that?! The other cool feature of this toaster is the lift up feature. My old toaster required me to break out the untensils to get the bagels out, so this is really a plus. The only reason why I am giving this toaster a 4 and not a 5 is because it doesn't appear to have the cool touch feature. The sides of the toaster get pretty hot. Impulse buy (my old toaster still worked, just didn't look cool)
I like this toaster's retro deco look. Nice wide slots, the cancel button so you can rescue toast that is about to burn without having to force the handle up. It does get hot on the outside (my other toaster was cool to the touch on the outside), but I don't have small children who could get burnt anymore (and I simply avoid touching the thing myself).

Note: before toasting anything in this one, turn it up to a high setting and push down the leaver to burn off the "manufacturing" smell or you'll get toast that tastes like burnt plastic.

Mediocre, but does the job
Good looking toaster that's well built but lacks the performance suitable for true toast satisfaction. I guess the product team didn't really test it with items from the local grocery store. It does a fine job toasting the lower 75% of your bagel/toast/large English muffin leaving the top 25% relatively warm and noticeably less "toasted." Small items such as Thomas' English muffins do just fine, but put a bagel in there and you might need to rotate it halfway through the toasting cycle. Additionally, the control knob changes the toasting quite a bit b/w 4.5 and 5 on the dial, so be careful else you'll burn things. Lastly, this toaster's speed is a bit on the casual side, too, taking noticeably longer to get the job done.

Dyson DC28 Animal

WORTH THE MONEY. Amazing suction. See my customer pics above
I don't know exactly where to start. I've owned a Sears, a Hoover, and an Electrolux (sadly, Electrolux isn't what is used to be). I researched and read reviews on at least 100 vacuums, watched unbiased youtube reviews, and talked to sales associates. After several months, I narrowed it down to the Dyson DC28 and the Miele Titan. I won't waste your time talking about WHY I chose the DC28 over the Miele Titan, but if you would like me to elaborate, please leave me a comment and I will promptly respond.

As far as the DC28 goes, it truly does have incredible suction! We have a longhaired Australian shepherd who sheds hairs sometimes a foot-long, and we regularly have guests, and I admit I'm a clean freak and I vacuum once a day. Yet, with all that daily vacuuming, I was missing SO MUCH, it sickens me. I vacuumed my whole house right before I vacuumed with my DC28, and I filled the canister past maximum capacity, then halfway full again the next day. It's amazing all the dirt...

It's an Animal (in all respects)
This whole time I thought I was vacuuming my carpet...what was my weak vacuum doing and why was I wasting my time?

I picked up the Dyson from a popular retail home goods store for 20% off the MSRP. Assembly was simple. Snap the Quick-draw Telescope Reach(tm) wand into the flexible hose and fit the wand onto the body of the vacuum. Remove various pieces of cardboard. Vacuum.

I live in an apartment with two cats; one of which sheds a lot (we call him fur pants). I had been using a Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Upright Vacuum for about 3 years. It picked up large pieces of dirt, and sometimes the smaller pieces. We used it a lot to vacuum cat litter in the cat's room as well. I've used the attachments a few times as well. One thing I noticed about the Dirt Devil is that whenever I wanted to use an attachment or empty the canister, I had to practically prepare myself for an asthma attack. Dirt and dust everywhere. it's no DC17
We've had a DC17 for years, and loved it. The DC17 picks up our cat hair like nobody's business. We decided to buy a DC28 so we'd have one Dyson upstairs, and one in the basement. The DC28 should have worked even better than the DC17 we figured...

But it barely picked up any dirt from our carpet. It was so bad, we sent it back for repair within a week. Dyson sent it back to us saying there was nothing wrong. We did a test, vacuuming the same carpet with the DC17 and DC28. The DC28 barely had anything in it, then the DC17 filled up three times.

Don't know if we just had a bad unit, or if the DC28 just doesn't do a good job on carpet - but for us, it was certainly no DC17.

And BTW, we bought directly from Dyson, and their return process is unbelievably cumbersome. If you want to buy this unit, buy it from Amazon, or a local big box store.
